This Listing is for ONE ONLY 9536814-401 STUBBY DRILL SQUARE.
Each Drill Square is machined from O-1 tool steel, heat treated and then tempered to Rockwell RHC 58+. As you can see in the images there is a 90 degree “V” groove machined on the outside edge of each leg of the Drill Square.
Sometime due to cramped quarters, awkward body positions or just plain hard to reach situation it is very difficult to always drill a hole at 90 degrees to the surface of the part or component. Used correctly this Drill Square can virtually eliminate angular errors.
This size of Drill Square is ideally suited to be used with stub length drills in an angle drill.
REFERENCE PHOTO BELOW:
To use this drilling aid, place one leg of the Drill Square against the surface to be drilled. Then place the point of the drill at the intended location for the fastener hole. Rotate the drill motor/drill to contact the center of the “V” groove which is perpendicular to the surface to be drilled. The drill is pressed against the “V” groove over the entire leg length. This ensures the drilling axis is at 90 degrees to the surface. Used correctly, the resulting fastener hole will be at 90 degrees to the work surface.
The legs of this Drill Square are unequal and measure 1.5″ X 1.0″ in length respectively.
